As a subsystem of the kfunigraz.ac.at computer network two IBM RISC
6000 machines form the RumpelStilzchen NIS platform. The client is called
Rumpel, the master Stilzchen. This system was built up by a cooperation
of the Institute of Theoretical Physics and the Institute for Experimental
Physics and was financially supported by the Jubiläums-Fonds der Österreichischen
Nationalbank. The original aim of this cooperation was the investigation
of lattice dynamical properties of solids with respect to application.
Further information about the scientific work of this project you will
find at: Latt_dyn
project
The system managers are:
Peter
Knoll and Claudia Ambrosch-Draxl
Now the system supports the group at the Theoretical Physics Department
and the Raman Group with computational power for calculations on band structures,
lattice dynamics, spin dynamics, group theoretical analysis and the complete
simulation of optical spectra. The system serves several PC's connected
via NFS which simplifies the communication between computer controlled
experiments, intelligent data acquisition, data analysis and calculations.
In order to navigate through the information network several symbols
have been introduced. More about these symbols you will find at the help
page.
